Current Needs

In addition to ongoing program, food, and administrative costs, NYCRM has special one-time needs for which we need help. Our current (as of 02/29/08) special needs are listed below.

VOLUNTEERING

  • A Spanish-speaking tutor for G.E.D. preparation
  • Medical professionals are needed to help maintain our weekly volunteer Medical Clinic
  • A consistent (e.g. once a week) daytime volunteer to help with office work

    GIFTS-IN-KIND
  • Men's winter coats; new socks and new underwear.
  • Personal Care Items: deodorant, shampoo, razors and bars of soap
  • Pantry items: canned goods, dry goods, etc.
  • House-cleaning Materials: mops, bleach, detergents
    NOTE: You may drop items off anytime at 90 Lafayette. We do pick ups in Manhattan Tue-Fri, 11-3 pm (no household appliances or furniture).

    SPECIAL PROJECTS

    Gym Membership: We're looking for individuals to sponsor Mission residents to join a local recreational center for $25 for six months (per person)

    Phase III—2nd Floor Renovation

  • New toilet rooms, sinks and showers
  • Demolition and renovation of the grand staircase (which takes up an unnecessary amount of space)
  • Other structural changes, creating more space for housing men
    Amount needed: $398,500$294,575

    Computer and Technology Information Upgrades

  • Approximately 25 new computers— $18,600
  • Systems upgrade— $15,000 $5,000 still needed
  • New donor database software— $11,000
