New York City Rescue Mission--America's First Christian Recovery Shelter

From Park Avenue to park bench, New York City is a place of great wealth and poverty. For 136 years, New York City Rescue Mission has been reaching out to the homeless in Lower Manhattan, providing emergency services such as food, clothing, shelter, counseling and spiritual hope.

Many men, women and children enter America's first rescue mission straight from the streets, court or prison, some with alcohol or drugs still in their system. Whether someone comes in seeking food, shelter, clothes, rehabilitation or spiritual growth, we try to meet the need. Though we only have the space to house 100 men, NYC Rescue Mission tries to meet the basic needs of everyone.
