Mother's Day Banquet

Mother's Day is a special time for moms and kids at the end of Metro Moms Week in New York City. Each year, NYCRM hosts a Mother's Day Banquet for the those in need. On the day before Mother's Day, approximately 500 homeless mothers and children from city shelters are treated to fine dining, an uplifting program of entertainment and one-on-one attention from celebrity volunteers. They experience pampering, gifts and flowers--benefits every mother deserves on this special day.

Participating in the banquet is the Walter Hoving Home, founded in 1967 to help women who are homeless, struggling with addictions or involved in prostitution or criminal behavior. It is located on an estate in Garrison, NY, donated by Walter Hoving, the late chairman of Tiffany & Co. A choir of women from the Home performs throughout the afternoon while others are available to host and provide encouragement to attendees throughout the banquet.

The event is in honor of Maria McAuley who, in partnership with her husband Jerry, founded NYCRM.
