Services

Meal Program
Most guests come to NYCRM seeking a hot meal, a clean shower and a safe bed. Providing a nutritious meal to someone that is hungry and hurting often opens the door to discussing deeper needs. It can be the first step in a person's recovery.

Overnight Lodging

NYCRM can facilitate 96 men in beds each night. 20 of our beds are reserved for men participating in our long-term Recovery Program, 4 are for Program graduates in the transitional phase and 72 are for overnight guests. When weather is inclement, we lay out an additional 50 mats on our chapel floor. All overnight guests have access to showers and laundry facilities.

Residential Recovery Program
Materials are provided to guide the participants through the healing process. The program generally takes 9 to 12 months to complete. It is a step program designed to help men achieve lasting change by addressing problems such as alcoholism, drug addiction, social alienation and abusive childhood experiences.

Career & Learning Center (CLC)

The CLC is equipped with a variety of educational programs for our long-term residents. They include GED preparation, literacy, financial skills training and a career planning. Each man must also pass computer basics and typing courses.

Volunteer Medical Services
A biweekly medical clinic operates at the NYCRM on Friday evenings. The clinic serves residents and overnight guests by providing basic medical services. The clinic is operated on a volunteer basis.

Evening Chapel Programs
Every evening, volunteer groups conduct programs for both our long-term residents and overnight guests. They consist of chapel gospel services, musical performances, skits and one-on-one interaction.

Family Court Lunch Program
Our proximity to the Family Court Building affords us the opportunity to host women and children for lunch on weekday afternoons. As part of this program, we provide hot meals, encouragement and a loving environment.

Food Pantry Program
NYCRM maintains a food pantry of perishable and non-perishable foods to provide for individuals and families in need.

Counseling
We have full-time staff members who provide Bible-based spiritual counseling and case management to the men in our Recovery Program. For those who need further mental health care, a psychiatrist provides pro bono services as needed.

Vision Care
NYCRM has an arrangement with Kress Vision allowing residents, guests and others to receive free dental care. Besides allowing special appointments at NYU Downtown Hospital, the Kress Vision Program anually sets up shop in the Mission's chapel to provide preventive eye care for underpriveliged, at-risk persons who would not otherwise receive it. A doctor and assistant perform eye exams, check vision, test for glaucoma, and provide prescriptions and glasses.
